Your Questions, Answered.

I am starting to compile a FAQ, but thought I would post some of the questions and answers here in the meantime:

A Virtual Conference? How does that work?

Anyone with a computer and a broadband connection can attend the CSS Summit. We will send out login information to all registrants 24 hours before the Summit starts. Once logged in, attendees should be able to see both presenter and slides, in addition to joining in on an ongoing chat with other attendees. We will have a moderator handling simple requests and compiling the big questions for the end of each session, allowing the presenter to focus more on presenting first, and discussion later. Attendees can “come and go” as they please throughout the day.

What is the schedule for the day of the Summit?

Each speaker will be on for 45 minutes, with a 10-minute Q&A afterward, and then a 5-minute break while we get ready for the next speaker. So with eight speakers plus a lunch break, that has us running from 9am to 6pm ET. We are still assigning times to speakers, based on their availablity and our desire to present the information in a logical progression.

Will there be SWAG like at other conferences?

SWAG, an acronym for Stuff We All Get, is common at a lot of location-based conferences. A lot of the stuff in SWAG bags ends up in the trash, however, which kind of defeats the purpose of giving cool stuff away in the first place. Rather than SWAG, for the CSS Summit and all future Summits we will have some cool giveaways instead! Most of our speakers are authors, so we will usually have some books and other goodies to give away, but probably not one for everyone. Some giveaways will be random, others based on great questions from our audience.

Will you make video of the CSS Summit available online or on DVD once the Conference is over?

Although we will be recording the Summit, we have no plans to release the video in its entirety just yet. Since this is our first Summit in the Series, we are working to create the optimal live experience for our attendees first and foremost. If the recording looks good, we may make it available for attendees to review later at their convenience.
